Welcome to the GEL student blog!
I’m Victoria Maeng, a Seattle-based 9th grader attending Bellevue High School. I have a passion for exploring the mysteries of the human body and I’m diving into my interests through writing for GEL.
When I’m not in the classroom, you’ll find me indulging in a mix of hobbies—from playing the piano to devouring web novels and jamming out to my favorite K-pop boy bands. But what really fuels my curiosity is the intricate world of human biology, particularly the endocrine system.
Why the endocrine system, you ask?
Well, it all began with a personal journey. Growing up, I was always curious about health and fitness, especially as I navigated challenges like maintaining a healthy weight. Despite eating well and staying active, I struggled to understand why my body responded differently compared to some of my peers.
Research and introspection led me to uncover the complex interplay of factors like metabolism, genetics, and insulin resistance. This journey ignited my fascination with the human body—a fascination that only deepened as I discovered my family’s history with conditions like irregular blood pressure and diabetes.
Now, armed with a determination to make a difference, I’m on a mission to unravel the mysteries of diabetes and its ties to the endocrine system. Through my blogs, I hope to raise awareness about public health issues and empower readers with insights into preventive measures and recommended lifestyle changes.
Join me as I explore topics like diabetes, obesity, and the critical role of the endocrine system in shaping our well-being. Together, we can advocate for better healthcare and share valuable knowledge that might just make a difference in someone’s life.
Stay tuned for more insightful posts—I can’t wait to embark on this journey with you!
